NPRI Compliance Reporting

The National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) is Canada’s legislated facility based inventory of pollutant releases and transfers. For many companies, the annual preparation of these inventories, the threshold evaluation and associated annual reporting can be a significant time burden on your internal corporate resources. Why not consider subcontracting the annual NPRI reporting to an industry expert?

Envirotech offers a team of highly qualified, hardworking individuals who have the appropriate technical background and project management experience to effectively assist clients with meeting annual reporting requirements, regardless of facility size and complexity. For 2014, Envirotech undertook the NPRI reporting for approximately 1/3 of all reporting facilities in the Canadian Oil & Gas industry, and approximately 10% of the total number of all annual facilities reporting in Canada. Our team can help assess whether reporting is required for any of your operations.

The scope of work for our NPRI services may include the following:

  • Collection and compilation of field data (including equipment, process and production data) for facilities both greater than and less than 20,000 man-hours.
  • Collection and compilation of additional data for facilities exceeding 20,000 man-hours. Including produced water volumes and analysis, waste disposal volumes, spill volumes and analysis, fugitive emissions, storage tank loading and unloading volumes, paint use, etc.
  • Calculation and threshold evaluation of Criteria Air Contaminants from combustion for facilities below the 20,000 man-hour threshold.
  • Calculation and threshold evaluation of Criteria Air Contaminants from combustion, fugitives, venting and calculation of NPRI Part 1, Group 1 substances manufactured, processed or otherwise used at the facility.
  • Speciation of Volatile organic compounds where thresholds are met.
  • Submission to Environment Canada through a bulk upload utility, or on-line submission through SWIM on behalf of the client.

Envirotech maintains an excellent working relationship with the NPRI regulator and provides support to the client during regulator reviews of the submitted data.

Do you require assistance with your NPRI reporting requirements? Please feel free to Contact our Environmental Management Division for more information or a quote.
