GHG Emission Inventories

Companies are required to respond to greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and compliance reporting requirements in multiple jurisdictions, each with different methodologies and scope. Envirotech has significant experience in generating GHG emissions and intensity reports for government reporting including but not limited to Alberta’s Specified Gas Emitters Regulation (SGER), Alberta’s Specified Gas Reporting Regulation  (SGRR), B.C.’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction (Cap and Trade) Act and annual reporting to Environment Canada.

A scope of work for Alberta’s SGER reporting may include the following:

  • Review of SGER facility operations, project applications, site drawings (including PFD’s, site metering diagrams) in an effort to determine all GHG emission sources at site.
  • Collection and compilation of field, equipment and production accounting data for facilities emitting greater than 100,000 tonnes CO2E for reporting under Alberta’s Specified Gas Emitters Regulation and completion of the Baseline Emission Intensity Application Reports using the AESRD spreadsheet.
  • Preparation of a quantification methodology manual for the BEI application that outlines the calculation methodologies and source data used.

A scope of work for SGRR and EC reporting may include the following:

  • Collection and compilation of field and production accounting data for facilities which emit greater than 50,000 tonnes CO2E.
  • Preparation of annual greenhouse gas report to Environment Canada and AESRD for facilities.
  • Submission to Environment Canada through their Single Window Information Manager (SWIM) application.

A scope of work for BC GHG reporting may include the following:

  • Review processes and systems in place to determine where required data can be best obtained.
  • Collection and compilation of production accounting data for all facilities included in the BC Linear Facility.
  • Collection and compilation of field data including equipment, drilling, completions, fugitive emissions, and unmetered fuel, flare, vent activity for all applicable BC facilities which exceed 1,000 tonnes Direct CO2E.
  • Calculations of GHG emission from the BC Linear Facility for reporting to the BC MOE.
  • Submission to BC MOE through a bulk upload utility or on-line through SWIM.

Our processes and calculation methodologies have been subjected to reasonable level of assurance audits through the B.C. GHG Reporting, Alberta’s SGER reporting and by auditors acting on AEP’s behalf. Envirotech provides support to the client throughout the verification process.
